the Purpose

The purpose of this project is to develop and build an open-air Performing Arts Centre on the west side of Talleyrand Park that will be of sufficient size to accommodate a variety of performing artists, plus theatre performances, symphony orchestras, and community bands.

The Stage at Talleyrand (SAT) Development Committee today has partnered with Hoffman Leakey Architects (HLA) to help with the design and development of the performing arts stage.

The performance stage—tentatively named the Stage at Talleyrand—will be designed to suit a wide range of performers and audiences, from symphonies and rock and jazz bands to local theatre performances and movie nights. The intention is for this space to become the premier outdoor public stage in the Centre Region.

This project could also include a visitor's center or café, restrooms, a green room, and storage etc.

We recognize a need to provide a proper multi-functioning outdoor performing arts facility to accommodate performing artists across Centre County and the audiences they will attract.

A committee of local supporters of the performing arts has been formed. This development committee will guide the effort in concept and design. Final projected costs are estimated to be between $1,500,000 and $2,000,000.
